The small print, in plain English

Privacy & Cookies

George’s Books is run by George Harrison, a British author of children’s books. This page explains what happens to your information when you visit, written as plainly as possible. It was last updated on 22 October 2026.

What this site stores on your device

Almost nothing. When you visit, one small cookie is set by the security service that sits in front of the site, which uses it to tell people apart from automated bots. It belongs to this site’s own address, expires by itself after about half an hour, and is not used to follow you anywhere.

The site also keeps a simple count of visits. That counter runs from this site’s own address, sets no cookie, and gives each visit a random number that is thrown away when the visit ends. It counts visits rather than people, and cannot build a profile of you.

The typefaces you see are served from this site itself, so loading a page here does not ask Google, or anyone else, for anything.

What this site does not do

There are no advertising cookies, no social-media trackers, and no third-party analytics. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising. No account, form or checkout asks visitors for their name, address or payment details — buying a book takes you to the shop where it is sold, on its own terms.

Where the site lives

The site is built and hosted by Lovable, and protected from abuse by Cloudflare. Those services see the ordinary technical details any website receives, such as an IP address and the page being looked at, so that pages can be delivered and kept safe.

If you sign in

Signing in is only for the people who run this site. A sign-in is remembered in your browser’s own storage so you are not asked for your password on every page, and it is cleared when you sign out or your session ends.

Children

The books are for children, and the site is meant to be a safe, quiet place to browse them. It makes no record of who a young visitor is, asks children for no personal details, and shows them no advertising.

Your choices

You can tell your browser to block or delete cookies at any time; the site still works, because nothing here depends on remembering you. If you would rather not be counted in the visit totals, email George and the counter can be switched off. You can also ask George to remove anything you have sent him, and you always have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

If anything changes

If a contact form, a shop, or any new service is added to the site, this page will be updated to describe it before it goes live. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last written.
